Okay so I'm doing a motor swap in my 1998 Ford Ranger 2.5l auto coil spring front end. I took my motor out no problems. Said I needed 4.0 motor mounts, so I went to auto parts store they said no difference so I go home, long story short. Motor mounts are wrong, needed Explorers 4.0s. So I've went to junkyards and SAW the difference. Apparently the Rangers have the SAME motor mounts.... but the explorer has a different one. So I ordered the 4.0s in Ranger and Explorer to see what I'll get. Hopfully one will be right. But looking down at this motor mounts, how in the heck does it come out!? It has a guide pin and a stud with a nut on it, (looking at the pictures) Now again I do have the motor out so the two studs on top are free. Someone told me gotta cut it, now yea.... Looking at it, looks like I have to take the A-arm off and hopfully make it through there, but crappy part is my suspension tool doesn't want to fit in there. Now it is a 2wd coil spring front end. 2.5l auto. If I can get steps or even a video of how to take this off without cutting eveerything apart be awesome. And to clear again, I need the rubber mount off the frame, not the block mount off. Been looking everywhere. Almost tempted to tow it t a mechanic. lol

I'm confused, are you wanting to remove the old 2.5 mount from the crossmember? There should be two nuts on the under side of the crossmember and when removed, allow the motor mount to just come off.

Or are you talking about something else?

It don't look like that cross member comes right off. It looks like an enclosed piece. I'll post some pictures of it later in the day. I'm about to go out there and see what I can do. When I went to the junkyard it looked like the 4by4s with the torqution bar, looked like you just had to drop the axle, but since my is a 2wd and a coil spring, looks ALL enclosed and almost impossible to replace

I see, yeah pictures will help. But, I haven't worked on an SLA truck in a long time...I'm probably mis-remembering..

I'm sure someone with more recent experience on the 98+ trucks will chime in. Good Luck :icon_thumby:
