94 with 75000 miles, runs rough when cold started, usually runs for 5 sec. then shuts off, on second start stays running but runs rough for 5 sec., then its like the choke comes on and the motor revs up for 15-20sec., then when it idles back down to 500rpm it still idles rough. when driving or sitting in park runs fine up to 2000rpm when it begins to surge, when parked it surges +-300rpm and when driving there is no change in rpm but the surge can be felt.

i have replaced the fuel pump, cleaned IAC twice, cleaned MAF, the pcv valve is working properly, sprayed starting fluid and listened for vacuum leaks and found none, new plugs wires cap rotor and coil, old plugs looked great when removed and i checked the new plugs after a short trip and they all look like there burning properly. any suggestions?

finally put the filter on no difference. ive ran a few bottles of injector cleaner through it also. its starting better now not shutting off but still idleing rough and i discovered the otherday that from a stop if you floor it, it stalls out... any chance my cats are clogged up?

If cats were clogged you'd really be down on power,
especially when it warmed up.

This might be leaking upper plenum gaskets. Not sure about a 94,
but on the later models these gaskets are neoprene "D" rings,
and they shrink and get brittle with age......

Hate to mention it but are sure your fuel pump isn't taking a dump ? I know a clogged filter could cause it.. Does it only do that when running cold and then works fine or whats the deal ? I hope its just a clogged filter in your sake but if runs like that normally you may take a look at your fuel filter sadly. :dunno:
