More Bronco hear say.

So what you're trying to say is, bronco is no goes vroom?

Well I've always been a year two buyer... year three even. I'm gonna wait and see what comes to market. Then I'm going to build what I want on the configure tool...order it.... and buy it... take care of it... and love it like it's the last new vehicle I'm ever going to buy. Because it will be.

To each their own I suppose... you are entitled to your opinion.

Six speed with crawler gear confirmed...

There are a couple other things come to light also.

But this one is big for manual fans.

Exactly the same issues the 5 speed getrag transmission in my 2006 Chevy Cobalt had and resulted in a 15,000 mile transmission rebuild, and it wasn't any better after that. Guess they just couldn't stand having anything that may last a couple decades so they decided to purchase Volkswagen reject transmissions to use in GM and Ford products....now they're adding a 7th "Crawler" gear so they can use it in a vehicle being marketed for "offroad" use...it didn't hold up behind a little 4 cylinder GM car, how does Ford figure on adding 2 more gears and thinking its going to hold up in offroad operation. Hope it comes with a lifetime replacement plan because it'll be needed at least once a year, possibly even more frequent in the offroad applications. How about just a regular 5 speed manual like the Rangers used to have. Put a 4:1 or lower low range in the transfer case if you want to crawl.

You think they are using the same transmission in a full size 4x4 as the transmission in your cobalt? Getrag is a brand, not a model.

Yup... those 5 speed Ranger transmission you mentioned were bulletproof. 🙄

Same brand of garbage doesn't matter if its the same model or not, its still a pile of shit Getrag with already numerous known faults in the 2011 to current Mustangs, its the same thing they've just added 2 additional gears to give you a crawl and a 6th gear....so yes, its the same transmission, and the Bronco isn't full size, its a compact borderline crossover. With all those known issues cited in the article currently you'd think Ford could maybe just maybe build their own stuff. Getrag has been known to be trash for decades, quite known to the VW crowd as well. Sounds like the 10 speed auto may be more reliable than the manual transmission sad to say but given the known Getrag problems auto just might win here.

Never had one fail in any Ford, Mazda or Dodge I've had. The only manual I've ever had fail twice within the first year and a half was that Getrag in the Cobalt. They're far from quality transmissions and its been known for decades just ask the VW crowd, they'll tell you all about those things....maybe slushbox should be given to Getrag M/T's because they sure are a let down in the manual world.

But, how do you really feel about getrag transmissions?

They are also used in ferraris, porches, the ford gt, dodge rams, bmw m series, supras, skylines, jaguars, lincolns, masaratis, audis, and mercedes. Pretty widely used brand of transmission for being so universally bad.

Let’s see...
FM146:
Snapped shift fork
Snapped shift rail
Shaved 4 teeth off 2nd gear
Shaved teeth off 3rd gear
But it was a fun weekend.

That was the 6th trans put in that truck... out of 7. The original owner abused the hell out of it.

so much for trannies, let's talk about July 9th now.

Is July 9th National Tranny Day?

Bronco Reveal day...

Should be a National Holiday

So what were you doing to destroy all that LOL. I've never broken a manual transmission until that Getrag in that Cobalt which was defective right off the lot, tons of issues with them, and now Ford is using them.

When everyone rushes out and buys the new "Bronco" with that cool new manual transmission and they start having problems...remember...."I Told You So".
