Monster Cable

agreed. monster cable is hugely overpriced.

I use monster cables for my guitar, they're not much more than cheap cables. I've had cheap cables go to hell on me, my monsters haven't yet, and they have a great warranty.

Not saying they make it sound any better, but they last longer.

I took my speakers apart when I was thinking about replacing one of the woofers that the kids put a foot through. Inside there was this tiny little wire running to the woofer and this is a 300max/150rms speaker.

The best speaker I have is on my brothers Ampeg bass amp. It's got to be a real 250amp device--when you hook up the CD player and turn it on one you can stand a quarter mile down the road and hear it--and it's not loud, it's a BIG, full sound. It could do structural damage to my garage anywhere above the 5 setting. You would have to turn it and run because past about the 2 setting it is friggin scaring you (funny that with the bass hooked to it you have to run it almost full blast to keep up with the guitars and drums. It has what looks like a 14g wire going to the big speaker--which is a 15 or maybe even an 18".

Yeah, I don't think welding cable is exactly needed.

I'd just say use plain cables...they will work just as well. We generally have made cables in the past.

Ampeg bass amps/speakers are awesome. A freind of mine used Ampeg stuff in my brother's band. We had overheating problems which led him to go to Carver...:bad:... no comparison when it comes to sound quality. The Ampeg was a tube amp, he is now using a small tube preamp to mellow the sound a little bit (they are a 70's type metal/pshychadelic band...old school sound is important).

I have worked with professional type sound equipment...we have used welding cable before for main amps and speakers.
