It cannot achieve closed loop without an oxygen sensor.

i understand that, my point was even if it was hooked up i dont think the truck would go into closed loop within 5 minutes of starting, would it?

I could be way off but being that the 02 sensor is heated ill bet it could be in closed loop within 30 seconds if its warm outside and the truck isnt dead cold. Its too bad these things wont show live sensor data on a scan tool because then we could tell exactly when it happens.

yea, i'm going to have my tfi mod. tested this weekend and do a tune up. side note when i first got the truck it ran like crap, i did a tune up and fuel regulator and then it only used to do this when it was below 50. Now its within 5 minutes after you start eery time its started, warm or cold.

I wounder if the fuel pressure reg. is bad and causing it to flood out somehow.

Bad regulator is very possible, pull the vacuum line off and check for the presence of gasoline in the line.

As for me, I doubt it would be my fuel pressure regulator, since mine is new.. It sounds like I have the exact same problem, Warm or cold, . Accelerates great in WOT though. Couldn't find any bad wiring, or any vacuum leaks either.

update- mine will hardly pull itself anymore it keeps bogging down and spewing black smoke like a diesel. i pulled the ignition module and the specs for the resistance are way off. i will pull it again and have autozone test it later this week
