I’m in need of a mixture control solenoid. I have a 1984 Bronco II 2.8L with a motorcraft 2150 carb. I found a m.c. solenoid online saying it’s from a 83 Ford mercury 3.8L and a motorcraft 2150 carb. Since the solenoid attaches to the carb, would this one work? Does the 2.8L vs. 3.8L somehow make it incompatible?

I have never done it, but it would most likely work. Somewhere on another forum a guy was in a pickle and needed his truck running, he took his solenoid apart and found out he had a broken piece in it. He needed it running, I told him I was running my engine with the wires disconnected and it ran fine. I recommended he take a cereal box, make a gasket to block the holes off and re-install what he had left of the old solenoid. He said it's running and idling great, and will get him by till the new solenoid comes in. If you really need to get it going.

Great! Mine is having some idling problems and I’ve found some problems with the carb. The prints on this solenoid were all bent and just not connecting. I wasn’t sure if it was the cause of my problems but I figured I might as well get a new one.
