Which is the better transmission for an 1989 Ranger 4x4 with a 2.9L V6 engine. Mitsubishi FM146 or a Mazda M5OD-R1

The Mazda is a better/stronger tranny, go with the mazda

Yep, hands-down, Mazda M5OD

arent they bad for a daily driver, because they draw all the fluid to the back of the trany and the front is dry? i heard that from a tranny shop when the mozda tranny went in my old 84 rang so they sold me the 146 fm. i know the mozda is stronger but is it more reliable?

That M5OD is the only decent transmission used in any year RBV, manual or automatic.

You forgot the C5.

M5OD>Mitsu.

You confuse TK with Mazda. Different trannys.
