OK, just got my engine rebuilt and running, so I know how to do that now. Moving on, my Mitsubishi transmission is leaking. It doesn't seem to be from the cover plate on the bottom, someone RTV'd the snot out of it. It is dripping from the point just above the y-pipe. When I run the truck the heat form the y-pipe burns the fluid and smells like butt. I am 99% sure its not motor oil. The oil pan is new, with new gasket and there are no leaks.

All I am looking for is a list of possibilities. I am new to this sort of thing, so just need a starting point for a diagnostic.

Also -> I installed a new slave cylinder when I put the engine in, so I don't think its that.

Pretty sure that is a shaft seal behind the slave, that could be leaking.

Another thing, there is a rattle type of sound coming from that area. It sounds like it's the dust shield between the engine and the tranny rattling back and forth. I crawled under there but that's not it. It really sounds like it's coming from the tranny. Ideas?

I seem to remember a couple people having a leak issue up by the shifter. It think it was on that brand of transmission. There are some seal plugs that can leak over time up there.
