Hey all, recently put my engine back together after getting it back from the shop, and after starting it I had a significant oil leak. It's from an 86 mustang SVO. Turns out there's a missing plug located near the PCV oil separator, behind the engine mount bracket. Not sure what size it is, but it doesn't seem to be threaded. Going to buy a few freeze plugs to try blocking it off, but if anyone has any idea what is actually supposed to go there I would appreciate that help

That's where the dipstick tube goes, pretty sure

That's what I was thinking it could be a provision for, but there's another dipstick tube provision toward the back, which is the one I'm using.

Any suggestions on plugging it properly? Brass plug, jb weld? I don't want it to be a permanent plug if I don't have to, but since it isn't threaded I don't have many options

I won't be able to look at my spare engines until Saturday, but I'll try to remember...

talk to the engine machine shop, assuming you had one....
Someone pulled something out of there....

86 SVO? Factory oil drain from turbo?

That's a 1/2" pipe thread plug on the other side of the engine, I'm drawing blanks on this one so far, only thing I know of in that area is the coolant drain port but that's more in the back I think.

Yeah, oil drain for the turbo is on the other side, there are other plugs on this side, but I am pretty sure all are to the cooling system and all have plugs/fan switch blocking them off. I found some images of SVO's with the other style intake and the dipstick still seems to be in the rear where mine is. Still not sure what should be here, and not sure why this block didn't have it plugged when my original block did. Trying to reach out to the guy I gave my scrap block to to see if I can get a pic of it but no luck so far. I tried reaching out to the engine builder but it sounds like this block never had anything there to begin with. He replaced all of the threaded plugs and freeze plugs, and this one wasn't covered in the plug set. I think it's a 3/8 hole which does match the other dipstick hole, so it must be a relic from the pinto molds or something
