I just bought a 98 ranger 2.5l for my son and the egr tube was rotted and the sensor attached was just floating by one hose attached to the tube the other hose was not connected to anything. I found listings for a new tube but was wondering where the other tube goes. Does it attach to a missing port on the egr tube or elsewhere. I also have a cracked manifold, going to get it welded by a pro welder. However the manifold looks a bit sketchy. I can't find any replacements other than ford oem for almost 500 bucks..ouch!! Any suggestions, does the 2.3 versions work they seem to be plentiful?

1994 or 1995 through 2001 exhaust manifolds should work just fine for you, those would be the only ones with the two ports on the EGR tube for the DPFE sensor, if I remember right the two tubes go to the same sensor.

thanx I looked a little further and there seems to be fewer options I had originally thought. However I also found a capacitor that was bolted to the coil pack, but has also rotted and slit apart. Anyone know what this is for.

it's to stop radio noise from the ignition, I'm not running one, if your radio squeals and it annoys you you could probably find another, I might have a spare...

Cool thanx that's not a major issue . I did however get the manifold off no broken bolts except for the two for the cat. Did manage to get them out, tomorrow will get it welded hopefully. Then I'll order up the egr tube and dpfe sensor and tubes.

Welder says better to try the bone yards. I made some calls for the stock 2.5l manifold keeping my fingers crossed. If not I might try the 2.3l manifold if it fits.
