I looked on the hub conversion how to in the tech section and found out why my 4 wheel drive has not been working. I have auto hubs but am missing the automatic cam gear is this a part I can buy on it's own or do I have to buy the whole hub. I just bought the truck and the guy told me the 4x4 didn't work but he didn't know why. Oh and am only missing the one one the passenger side, I guess someone didn't put it back on after servicing the truck in some way. Thanks for any input in advance.

Your best bet would be a junkyard..or ask on here, maybe someone has one laying around. If its a dana 28 i actually have 2 of them .

he has a D35 front, (maybe the d28/35 hybrid), but that doesnt matter cause the hubs are the same. i would recommend going to a junkyard and getting a whole hub. you should be able to get it for 20-30 bucks.

How do I know which one I have cause am sure the junk yard will want to know too. Also about how much does it cost to convert to manuel hubs and is it as easy as just swapping hubs, I didn't really understand the tech library explanation. Thanks

You'll need a conversion kit (spindle nuts) to swap to manual hubs, outside of that, they slap right on.

yeh just make sure your torque everything right. the first time i did it i didnt torque it right and well lets say a few days later i had to have the bearings replaced cause they got pretty trashed.

Thanks for the replys but I mioght just go to the junk yard and pick up an automatic hub from them cause I don't plan on driving the truck much off road if at all. I just want the four wheel drive to work in the winter up here in Canada.
