I had found a set of 15" wheels Saturday, figured well if they're still there on payday I'll go get them...got to thinking today (Sunday) I probably should just take the $250 out of the savings and go get them as trying to find that style of wheel is pretty hard they don't leave anything this old out on the lot very long, maybe a few days at the most. Since I am off work at a reasonable time Sunday morning I figured I'd transfer money from my savings to the checking like I've done so many times in the past and go ahead and make the trip and get them. Well, thanks USAA plan foiled again :(. So, now I guess I'll have to keep on looking, these were really clean with the center caps too. I was going to get them and put them on my 88 EB B2 since somehow the PO managed to bend steel wheels, not exactly sure what the heck he did to this thing, but finding all sorts of issues over the course of having this B2 for almost 5 years.

This is exactly why I keep all my money in loose nickles scattered around my property.

Thinking I should do the same LOL. Especially when there isn't a USAA branch anywhere near Idaho. Maybe they'll have whatever it is they screwed up fixed by tomorrow, that would still give me enough time to drive over and hopefully they still have them. $235 for all 4 tires and center caps. I think one wheel new is over $100, probably closer to $200 a piece. These are the aluminum alloy wheels, same pattern that I have on the Ranger. I do wonder if I could put 15" wheels on my Ranger though, it would open up tire options a bit more I think.

There shouldn't be any problem with putting 15" tires on your ranger.

Good to know, thank you. Didn't know if I could put 15" wheels on the 4x2 Rangers. Definitely opens up more options, I'm assuming I'd also have to change the speedometer gear if I swap to 15" wheels, but seems like a pretty easy thing to do.

You can go to a slightly lower aspect ratio with the rubber and your tire diameter will stay the same. Play with the calculators in the tech section...

Ok, I'll mess with the calculators and see what I need to get. Thanks again.

Do what I do, I have a small amount of money tucked away in a secure spot for "emergencies" only. Now, what constitutes an emergency can vary (good deal on car parts / tools / power equipment, hurricane, sale at Cabelas), but your situation would certainly have qualified.

Sorry that you missed the deal. But if you do go to 15" rims, it will also open up your tire type / tread pattern choices quite a bit.

I went back over today after work, clocked out a bit early even LOL...I was surprised to find those wheels still sitting in the back seat of the Explorer...I figured they'd be gone as busy as they were this past weekend when I was over there. I went out there and the rear hatch was open, thought well crap someone took them....nope they were still sitting in the back seat like I found them....and they're not even Explorer wheels LOL. $170 for 4 wheels and center caps. Not bad.

I have the same style of wheels on the Ranger. This set is going on the Bronco 2 because somehow the previous owner managed to bend all 4 steel wheels so the tire shop had a check of a time trying to balance them, so it'll be nice to have non-bent and balanced wheels LOL.

Glad the wheels were still there, just have to have tires swapped. I have a trailer of scrap metal that needs to be dumped so I'll throw the old wheels in the trailer to go to the scrapper, not sure of any use I can think of around my place for bent wheels.

Go rock crawling. You'll find out how easy it is to bend wheels. With cheap steel wheels, you don’t cry when they get torn up.

Glad you got your deal.

I'm wondering if that's what the PO was trying to do LOL. Its a stock Bronco 2 though LOL so not sure how you'd really rock crawl with it being stock....which would most likely also explain the engine problems and transmission failure as well.

That's great! I am glad you were able to get them. There is no feeling quite like scoring a good deal on the car parts you need / want.

Funny enough, if you are bored, you can use your old steel wheels to make a small charcoal bbq grill.

Got the tires swapped to the new wheels yesterday and mounted back on the Bronco 2. Now I need to find some replacement lug nuts so they'll stick out far enough to remove and install them without having to remove the center caps. So the Ranger and Bronco 2 now have the same wheels...
