My 95 is suffering from a misfire that occurs under load at relatively low rpms (1500-2000). At higher rpms the truck runs fine, however when coming to a stop the truck has stalled out on two occasions. The truck had new Motorcraft sparkplugs and wires installed last year, a new Bosh fuel pump installed last month. The computer has no codes stored. 165,000 miles are on the clock. I'm thinking of replacing the coli pack. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Missing under a load is usally a bad plug or wire. If it was your coil pack then it would do it on 2 cylinders not one. Make sure that there are no wires close to or on the exhaust manifolds or any of the plug boots are ripped or burnt.

I agree with the bad plug or plug wire. My Explorer needed plug wires every 2 years and the first sign was a miss under a load at low rpm's.

Thanks for the advice guys. I shall sally forth in the 100 degree heat here in SC to check it out. I'll post what I find.

just a thought mine would miss when i was crusing at a constant speed at low rpms also, but never died. turned out to be the egr system. i turned the egr system off and it stopped missing.

Just checked out the plug wires. They look good, still in the wire holders, all still solidly connected to the spark plugs , no aparent abrasions and none touching the exhaust manifold. I did find the number 3 wire not firmly connected to the coil, but still connected and thought this is it, I have found the problem. Sadly, a test drive proved me wrong and the problem still is there. Any further ideas?

Here's an idea for you. Pull the wires off of the coil one by one and see if there is any green gunk in there. They can become corroded, and in your case, it could very well be number 3. Clean it and try again. If this doesn't fix it, I'd do plugs and wires.

Just because they look good, doesn't mean they are. I know this from experience. My wires would only last 2 years on my Explorer, and I drove it less than 10,000 miles per year.
