Milk Shake

So, I'm driving back from a 5 hours trip when all of a sudden I have a huge loss of power. I attempt to give the truck gas and it just sputters and shakes. I then proceed to feather the gas to the nearest gas station.

I pop the hood and to my surprise there is milk shake colored antifreeze sprayed everywhere under the hood. I check the dipstick and it appears clean with no water/antifreeze.

I was forced to get a tow home. Once home, I attempted to start the truck but it would not start but would crank over. I'm thinking I have milk shake in the cylinders which is causing it to run like crap.

Cracked head? Blow gasket?

Thoughts?
 
Sorry, sounds like the infamious head crack or at least head gasket.

to TRY to salvage or minimize damage of what you have, your going to need to evacuate the fuilds from the cylinders.

Pull the fuel pump relay off the connection...so that the fuel isn't being injected too. You shouldn't be able to hear the pump prime when the key is in the ON position.

Pull the ALL plugs,(keep the plugs in order from where they came out, so you can look at them closer), then try turning over, (with aid of a friend) while friend turns it over, you and maybe another friend still left to watch the spark plug holes as it gets turned over, (one per side). It should turn over very easy now. IF either of you watching the plug holes can see a bunch of mist spewing and then tapering off as as the pistons come back around to TDC, make a note as to which holes had more. crank it over for a few seconds, 20 er so .

after everything is cleaned out...repeat only doing a compression check (on all cylinders) & write down the readings. Is there some that are elevated more than others???

Also check the back side of the oil fill cap for eveidence of your "white snot" too.

Check the radiator, drain and flush the radiator,...does the coolant look oily?

start there...hope that helps
 
Thats what I was afraid of.

By the time I get done buying all the parts let alone do all the labor, its not going to be worth it. The truck is a first class beater.

Well, time to look for a new truck. :sad:

Well...just make sure that you didn't blow a radiator/heater hose

Ah, but that's the best kind of beater. You could probably swap in a junkyard engine for less hassle than finding a new truck. Even though it's a beater, you've owned it, so you know all the little quirks and issues with it. I always hate getting a new beater because you don't know what's wrong with it until you find out you need new brakes and that the headlights are held in with scotch tape...

I cannot even fathom how many times this has happened to me, Lol!


My girlfriend always says "Why don't you just buy a new vehicle so you don't have all these problems!, gosh your so retarded!"
