Has any one imported or looked in to importing a 4 door Ranger from Mexico??

I am in Canada but the importing info is about the same. if any one could fill me in on some info that would be great. This truck would sure make family life easier

every time this tread is brought up the normal saying is "it won't pass eminsions"
it would be great thought

if emission is the problem, then i just register it in Oklahoma or wyoming,(no emission testing), but i wonder, being the VIN shows it being from mexico, wonder how the banks, registration, would go.

I didn't think it was emissions i thought it was side impact safety, it doesn't meet the requirements safety wise...

That's what I heard too, somethin about the A pillars or somethin

in alberta canada, we're not strict on emissions, its all about passing a safety inspection (brakes, bearings etc) the vehicle needs to be in top working order to get insured.

I think you could easily import a 4dr ranger from mexico, but driving it back would be the battle you're faced with.

The biggest problem you'll face is the the fact that, at least in the U.S., the A-Pillars do not meet DOT safety specs. I talked to a Ford rep at the New England Auto Show, and he mentioned the 4 door Ranger from Mexico and Venezuela, and specifically said that the A-Pillars will not meet safety specs here and that's why they haven't been imported yet, although he did mention that Ford is aware that Ranger fans want the quad cab option.

You'd probably have to get a waiver from whatever the equivalent of the DOT is in Canada, and get through all of that bureaucratic BS. Let us know how it goes though.

Why not just get an Explorer sport Trac? Oh yeah, it's butt-ugly.

I've seen many RHD Japan Skyliners and RHD Landcruisers around here. A crew cab mid-eighties Toyota RHD Hi-lux in St.Albert.

A 4 door Ranger from Mexico should be possible. We have ZERO emission testing here

You could Illegally immigrate it up here and put alien as the license plate. people come why not trucks?
Yes, we could find it a job working in a mexican restraunt somewhere or laying sod for a landscaping company. It could live in a small one bedroom apartment with 15 other illegal rangers. :taunt:

Oh I'm sure its possible, I just know from talking to the Ford rep that it won't pass safety inspection in the U.S. because the A-Pillars aren't reinforced to spec in the U.S.

I was also just talking about the cab, not the whole truck.

i got it, drive yours down there, switch DS door, vin plate, tags, vowla, bring crew cab back
