Hi all... I see there's already a thread about fuel pressure, but this is a different situation..

I installed a kill switch, and then lost fuel pressure at the rail

At first, I used a jumper wire to connect the yellow and red/green wires in the plug. It ran like that..
[here's the schematic I used] http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g267/jimguitars/007/broncschematic.jpg

Then I dismantled the rest of the plug and installed the kill-switch.
The kill-switch connected the yellow to red/green, and the switch was grounded.
It didn't run after that, but would fire with starting fluid.

When we checked the fuel pressure at the rail, it was very low. Maybe 15 or so..

I did some searches, and found out about the inertia switch..
The white button (on top) is just slightly up.
If I lift it, it falls back down.. If I push it down, it springs back up.
Does that sound right? [the battery is disconnected right now]

I've been trying to understand the schematic for days, but I'm not a mechanic, so it's confusing.
There's a brown/pink wire, and a grey/yellow wire... they're heavier than any other wires at the switch, and they're not connected right now.. I wonder if I should connect them to the kill switch too..??

Before I dismantled the plug, the truck ran fine with just the yellow and red/green wires connected.

-additional info-
When I first put the kill switch in, it was out of gas.
When I came back and put 2 gallons in, it still wouldn't run (but would fire with the starting fluid).
Then I noticed that the tank was leaking.. so I drained the gas and pulled the tank.

While the tank was out, we tested the internal fuel pump. It spins, but I'm not sure if it pumps.
We never tested the other pump (under the driver's door) at all.

My buddy said to throw a fuel pump at it, but I dunno.. It worked fine before this, and I only drove it one block... then she sat for a week or two before I messed with the switch.

I'm wondering if it could be air in the lines?
Or maybe I cooked the pump by trying it with no gas?

I sure hope I didn't cook the computer.. I had the battery disconnected when I messed with the wires.

I really opened a can of worms here.. not sure what to do next. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

I missed the races last month, but I have two weeks to figure this out and make it work..

This SUV race was a pretty good one..

...it turns out that I was wrong about the internal fuel pump.. that thing is shot...

maybe this ain't the wiring after all... unless something in the wiring is causing the pump to burn out? This pump has already been changed once, by a previous owner...
