MERRY CHRISTMAS TRS!!!

Heads up world, next person I meet who corrects me for saying merry CHRISTMAS is going to get slapped across the side of the head

It's christmas dangit, say it like you mean it. This PC crap is ruining my holdiays..... If you believe in it SAY it. I say MERRY CHRISTMAS like most of the world. Whats this Xmas crap? Or happy holidays crap.

Hey for example, I'm not Jewish but if a person was to walk up to me and say happy hannukah(sorry for sp) I wouldn't hesitate, I'd say happy hannukah right back smile real big, and be on my way. I do not care if you don't participate in the celebration of Christmas but I DO. I personally don't believe in your holiday either but that doesn't mean that I'm gonna change for you. Nor do I believe you should change for me. But I can accept who you are and what you believe whatever it may be so that we can both have a great holiday season.

Myfriend, I agree with you absolutely! So far this season and last my greeting has been, MERRY CHRISTMAS" and then I smile and say, none of this happy holiday BS.

I went in to get my check cashed today and when it was done I said merry christmas and the woman just gave me a dirty look.. Im not an asshole for saying it so why do people assume I am?!

Happy Holidays is really that bad?

Imagine the world as a majority of Jewish religion. And every year all of you had to put up with a constant barrage of "Happy Hanukkah". Seeing how bent out of shape some people seem to be getting over a simple, all encompassing "Happy Holidays", I don't think they could handle it. But that's what those people of other religions have to put up with, for the entire season, every year.

Which I really can't understand what's so bad about Happy Holidays? Is it the lack of God being involved? As the OP mentioned about Happy Hanukkah, it's ok, but then your flat out into a different religion, and one that's not yours/don't agree with. So what is it about Happy Holidays that is so bad?

It may not immediately feel like your being an asshole, but insisting that the universal greeting should be MERRY CHRISTMAS does have an undertone of "you should be my religion, it's the majority". At least I always thought so, which may explain why when people put the emphasis on it some people get defensive (as per 1988dangerranger's bank lady).

I'm going to start wishing people a Merry Solstice. So ha.

(all this being said, I do generally say Merry Christmas. Unless I'm on the receiving end of a different greeting, in which case I'll respond with whatever they said)

There is nothing wrong with Happy Holidays at all. I said the next person who corrects me. Happy Holidays is a nice all encompassing term but I believe in Christmas. Not the give and get gifts, but the Jesus was born on this day christmas, just like the majority of people across the globe. I believe he has already come, some religions do not therefore they do not celebrate christmas. I have no problem with other people celebrating their beliefs. Which is why if someone said happy "whatever" day I'd smile and say happy "whatever" day to you and go merrily on my way. I just want to slap people who try to correct me because I say merry christmas and they think that may hurt somebodies feelings so they say your wrong to say that. Pisses me off SO bad. Thats why I put that in the post lol.

If you wanna be PC and say Happy Holidays or you don't celebrate christmas but want to participate in the festivities and say Happy Holidays thats great, thank you for being cheerful this time of year, I'll say it back and we can both go on happily about our business. But when somebody corrects me like I'm dumb for saying christmas I get upset..... Just like people saying merry Xmas and then without being asked go into its meaning. The X stands for the cross, which stands for jesus, which means I'm saying the same thing as Christmas "you can google it if you don't believe me" blah, blah, blah, crap. Since everything I look up on the internet is unquestionably true.......... That's a bunch of crap because people won't stand up for what they claim to believe.

Boils down to if you celebrate Christmas for Christmas then good for you, if you don't then good for you too. I don't have a problem either way, but when someone tells me I'm wrong for what I believe or someone pansy-style, snivels about political correctness or some craptastic mumbo-jumbo without having their own opinions/beliefs it makes me want to give the ol' brain shaker to the back of their noggin.

The sad part is I started the thread to wish everyone a Merry Christmas here on TRS lol. But when I was typing it I rememebered the guy who went all into lecturing me earlier yesterday and went off on a rant lol.

Sorry for that but It's how I feel. I do hope everyone had a wonderful, Christmas with family, friends, and loved ones I'm off to enjoy the festivities as we speak!
