Meet Lucy the three wheeled differential-less Ranger

Glad you got it fixed. save the drums and brake hardware if it is still good and you didn't have to swap it to the new axle. I am curious as to what the gears look like lol... and like Uncle Gump, the picture of you hauling it down the road in the lawnmower would have been priceless

The only thing better would be if he wore a Detroit Loins football helmet and jersey while doing it.

I felt a wobble so I look out my side mirror and I watched my wheel and axle slide out from my truck and bounce away.
did you sing the song "You picked a fine time to leave me Loose Wheel" as you watched it come out of the truck?

(before your time, but a play on an old Kenny Rogers song from the 70s)

AJ

I just saw all this, sorry for your trouble. But you’re on track. Not only did you get it fixed, you learned a lot about it. Also, being a good mechanic is a three-legged stool. What you know, how good you are at research, and community: friends who can and will help you out - that’s TRS, these guys are great.

& if it is any consolation, I’m 65 now, done okay, but I started out with a 3-wheel drive Chevy. It was 4WD when it was new 18 years before I had it, but a hub was busted. Fast forward fifty years, and I’m rebuilding an 87 4WD. I’ve only lost the brakes twice, boiled out the radiator once, and caught on fire once (among other adventures).

But you know what? Driving around is convenient, but you’d get there anyway. Now you’ve got stories for a lifetime and knowledge to make you stronger. It’s a blessing, His blessing.

Yeah, but I know, sometimes I wish I didn’t have so many “blessings,” and life was less eventful. Hmmm, 🤔, not really. Wouldn't change a thing!

Good luck with it. & next time get pictures!!

No I was thinking more of “Rusty Chevrolet” by Shanneyganock or “A Piece at a Time” by Johnny cash.

I needed to fix my brakes anyway so I had the brakes rebuilt seeing we were in there.

I got your pictures gentleman (possibly ladies too).
C clips were alright but I think it’s obvious why the wheel said toodles
Also do you guys think the scoring on the axle is from when it ejected?
