Hi-There's probably some info here about this but I can't find it. On my almost new rebuilt 2.3L EFI '86 the temp gauge (I think it's the problem) has been acting strangely. I had my mechanic check various areas of the engine with one of those hi tech temp. guns and all is fine but the gauge jumps all around. The thermostat and sender are fairly new. He suggested I just put in a mechanical gauge as my electrical one is so old and may be the problem.
My question: it's coming today and I have no idea where to place the probe. I'm not mechanical enough to tap into anything complicated and wondered if I can "T" it into a hose and, if so, which one. Thanks. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

I'm not sure what years but some of the 2.3's (might be Mustangs) have a "T" fitting for a sensor in the heater hose. Find one in the JY & be sure to put it in the same hose on yours.
