Mechanical issue

Hi everyone as all of you are aware this covid 19 pandemic has made it hard for us to do many things. One of these things is to go to a mechanic for an engine light. I searched around my truck until I found this and was wondering if any of yall know what this is. Thanks!

Assuming you have a 2004 "Ranger," I'm sure the experts on this forum will recognize what engine you have and from there will be able to tell what the circled item is. However, for the rest of us dummies - meaning ME - it would help if you gave that info up front.

My guess is a disconnected AC line. Does your AC work?

Yes, looks like disconnected Air Conditioning line, so AC won't be working the pressure switches would have it shut OFF

So it couldn't cause a CEL(check engine light)

You can get a Bluetooth OBD2 reader for $10-$25, works with any smartphone and FREE APP as the display
These work on ANY vehicle made since 1996 so not a Ford thing
So not a bad investment if you plan on driving for a few more years

You can see what "codes" are set, and clear them, also you can watch LIVE DATA, which can help you determine WHY a code was set

you can always do the jumper wire method....I got a cheap OBD1 reader from autozone that lives in my ranger. Somehow having it in the truck seems to keep the check engine light away.
