mb 190E

Friend has a 1990 mb 190E and it was running fine he stopped it at tim hortons while he went in for a snack and when he came back out it would not start. It turns over enthusiatically but that's all. There is no spark at the plugs and they appear dry. Fuel pump runs and it will not start with a shot of quick start down the intake. Are there any common issues with these things. It's pretty cold here and a snow storm is on its way so the least amount of time I have to spend freezing my butt off the better.

I'll update what happened today. butt totally frozen but did establish that it has spark at the coil but not at the plugs. Removed cap and everything looks ok however rotor has around 1k ohm resistance between center and tip and center contact on cap has about the same from outside to inside. Don't know what's normal as I can't find any info.

Those Bosch rotors have a resistor built in between the center and the tip, so 1K is ok. I've seen them crack, and short out to the distributor shaft, or look for carbon tracks inside the cap

Thanks bob. I thought they might have a resistor in them but I told him to change the rotor and cap anyway. It's got to be loosing the spark somewhere.

He just called me, new rotor, cap and plugs and it started up right away.
