I have a mazda B3000 series 6 cylinder truck that won't start. the theft light flashes everytime i crank it. I tried my spare key with the same result. It appears that the security system is not recognizing the key. I have a couple of questions:
1. Is there a way to re-initialize the system to recognize the key?
2. Can the system be bypassed?

Thanks, Jefnjan

go to your dealer. show them your prof. or insurence and ownerships. and they will give you a code to bring to a lock smith to get the exact key cut out.

1. Yes ... Go to a locksmith or dealer.
2. Yes ... but because anyone can read the responses, you'll get no help that will assist a thief on this site. We value our trucks too much.

You need to go to the dealer and have your keys reprogrammed. Not something a locksmith can do. They can cut you a new PATS key, but the dealer will still need to program the keys to the truck, which requires the use of IDS (Ford's scan tool) Its a 1/2 hour charge at the Ford dealership I'm working at.

put the key in the ignition turn it to on but not to crank, and then leave it for 30 minutes. Use your watch cause it will feel like a long time. After 30 minutes try giving it a crank.
this only works on a key that previously worked in that vehicle

I'm having the same issue with a 2007

I'm having the same issue with a 2007, it cranks but won't start then the security light blinks 5 times.
Have you personally tried the 30 minute method for re-initializing your key?

OP- please let us know how that works out.

I have not tried it on the Mazda. But it has worked on other brands. So for thirty minutes of listening to the radio why not give it a try:icon_thumby:

I had this issue. You can put it on standby mode by holding the alarm reset button down while turning the key back in forth from off to on in the ignition twice. My trucks alarm has been in standby since April. I hope you get this message before you waste money on a locksmith
