Hey guys I posted this on another forum, but I have an opportunity to trade a 98 Jeep Wrangler for an 05 Supercab Ranger Edge. Its a 2wd, 3.0L, 5 speed.

My Jeep is a 2.5L 4 cylinder 5 speed, with 155k miles. The Ranger has 134k miles. Should I be worried about the mileage on the Ranger? I just need it to last me a few years, but if it would go longer I would keep it.

Has anybody had any luck buying a higher mileage Ranger like this? Is this even considered high miles?

Thanks,
Joey

Do it! Thats a good trade, and the mileage is nothing to worry about, its almost broken in LOL. Thing is still in its prime. that 3.0 is bulletproof.

Just sit back and think which one you would want more, your jeep, which can be more fun than a 2wd, or a Ranger. I choose make the trade, make the Ranger your daily driver, and find an older cheap 4x4 to use as a designated trail rig. That would be sweet!

Just got a little more info out of the guy. He bought it but has yet to sign the title and register it in his name. He got it from the original owner, so thats a good start I guess. He said he hasn't registered it because he wants a 4x4.

Ive never taken the Jeep offroad one time since Ive had it. I should have but oh well.

I just bought a 4.0L, not the 3.0L with 160K on it and the miles didn't bother me. As said, those 3.0L run for a long time but I think their only problem area is the cam sensor going out. That sounds like a great combination you are looking at.

are you trading even up?......if so....does the guy use Crack and Heroin or just Crack?

I'd keep the jeep unless you really need the pick up bed. I have a 97 TJ with the 2.5 and i love it. runs like a dream.

He just wants to trade even. I put an ad on Craigslist, and he called a few days later. I told him I don't have any money to put with the Jeep and he said that was fine. Jeeps are very easy to sell. I got literally 20 calls in about the first hour on CL.

It is all about price. How much. Was the jeep in CL for

I would never trade a jeep for a 05 SC ranger edge even up. You can go to the auctions an buy a 98 jeep for short money all day long

I listed it at 5500. That's probably about right at least in this area considering the miles and the few things it needs. Similarly equipped ones I have seen listed for as much as 8k but they had big lifts and tires and new tops and all that.

I guess I will stand corrected. I originally was thinking you had a Cherokee, but you have a wrangler and they do appear to have some decent value...

Yeah the wranglers hold their value a little better. I only paid 4400 for mine though so I think that's a decent deal for the Ranger.

i would get a ranger. ive seen rangers that have gotton to 400,000 miles on the origional motor without being rebuilt. i would jump on that deal like there was no tomorrow.
