so i drove my 92 ranger with the 4.0 home last night, no problems. went to start it up in the morning and nothing. it would crank but would'nt start over. i checked spark and it was good. i checked my inertia switch and it was good. then for a shot in the dark i unplugged my coil pack and let it crank over with no spark. plugged it back in, tried to start it and it hiccuped then kept just cranking over. i also disconnected my fuel line and it just drizzled out. could this be a possible blocked line or in-tank pump? please help!

I checked that, fuel filter is ok

any other ideas?

can you hear the pumps prime when you turn the key? have you been able to check for fuel pressure with a gauge?

I can't hear the pump prime, is it a really soft sound? fuel pressure seems next to none.

this just happened to me about a week ago. Have someone turn on your key and stick your head right by the tank and if you hear nothing, then its your pump.

Not to change the subject or anything but when i put my pump in i had a **** of a time with the filler hose. any tricks you guys got for sliding them back over the frame rail. We tried putting it on with the tank in place and that didnt work either. we ended up using brute strength and forcing that sucker up through there

ill definetly check on the pump, how much time do you think it takes to drop a 92 fuel tank replace the pump and put it back in?

Pull the bed. It's much easier. The nephews replaced a buddies fuel pump (the lines were leaking). Only problem they had was they broke a bolt for the bed.

DON'T replace the pump until you check the FP relay...
