I may be able to get a 2.5 with 5spd for $250.

Its 2.5l 4 cyl engine with tranny5 Spd that came out of a 2000 ford ranger. Has 170k on the engine but is running strong, fresh oil change on it, clutch was redone in July, and is a great motor.

I looked up the specs & all looks better for performance, torgue & fuel economy. How ever the specs show 56-72 psi Fuel pressure for 2000 & 30-40 psi in 1994 is that due to a higher pressure fuel pump in 2000? Would the engine still run fine with the 30-40 psi. Are the injectors different between 94-2000? I would get 19 more HP @ 400 more rpms & 13 more ft lbs @ 400 more rpms.

I should diffently be able to feel the added HP & torque hauling heavy loads & empty ,plus lower .3:1 lower comp better gas milage. I have a 96 Head sitting in storage with a performance cam on it & I have heard that the 96 head has larger valves then a 94 what about any difference between 96-2000 heads.

That cost is what just trannys are going for so I figure its a great deal.

Thanks,For your guys input

First off the 2000 2.5l has smaller valve stems not valves. The 2.5 also has a returnless fuel system so no return fuel line. The accessory brackets are different. Not to mention intakes are different. I know you can put a 2.3 head on a 2.5 but the accessory mounts will be off.

enough said I wont be getting it as all of my front engine accessories/ components are new with in last 8 months

For $250,you could get it and put the rotating assembly in your block and have a 2.5.Bolt in deal.

sorry, but are you sure about that? I've always been under the impression (from info I got from this site), that major difference between the 2.3 and 2.5 was the crank and pistons. How are the intakes different? And the accessories don't bolt right up?

I haven't seen a 2.5 personally, but all the pictures of them make them seem basically identical to the 2.3...
