Hey everyone I'm looking at possibly getting my 5th Ranger. (I know I have a problem)
I don't already have 4 they were all in the past. Anyway I sold my last Ranger, a 99 reg cab 3.0L 5 speed. I only did it because my mom offered me her 07 Impala for very cheap. So I did it, and almost immediately regretted it.
Yesterday I sold the car and am on the hunt for a truck. I've considered a fullsize, but can't find much without a bunch of miles for my budget.
I found an 01 B3000 Dual Sport supercab, 3.0L, auto, power everything. It has 128k miles. $4500
There is also an 02 Ranger XLT Supercab, 2.3L Duratec, 5 speed, 114k miles for $3800.
I took my last 3.0L from 129k to 174k without any real problems. I know they are solid but I'm concerned about the auto transmission in the Mazda.
I also had a Duratec Ranger several years ago. Took that one from 9 miles to about 75k miles with no issues.
Between to 2 trucks I'm leaning toward the Ranger. I know the Duratec is a timing chain engine, but on average do they have much life left at this mileage?
I realize that maintenance history plays a big part in this and there is no definite answer. I guess I just wanted to see if anyone replied that had 2.3L (non Lima) with high miles.
Thanks guys,
Joey
