master / slave cylinder help needed

i was trying that.. the slave cylinder i have has the newer style "C" clip quick release/lock connector.. and i cant get it to stay cliped in.. i tried connecting it in without the O-ring and plastic ring and still i cant get it to stay in... :dunno:

it goes on the end of the line that goes into the transmission/slave cylinder.

pause this video at 14 seconds. you'll see it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgNTDGwcjZc

i just looked at that video again.. the connector on the end of my hydraulic line doesnt even have a groove in it to hold the o-ring like the video shows... do i have to get a new style connector to fit in the new style of slave cylinder?

did you get it bench bleed good maybe it has the same fitting as your old slave. did it just pop it out when you disconnected it try removing the cap on the slave make sure the end of the line is clean and just put it back together either it works or it dont I would try putting it back the way it came apart.

If it goes back together tite gravity bleed it before you press the pedal

i bench bled it then hooked it up to the slave cylinder and gravity bled it.. then when i pushed the clutch, the line pops out of the connector.. Im going to the parts store today to take a look at a new one and see if it looks any different.. Im thinking mine is just worn out though, but i still dont see any way an o-ring could possibly fit on there?

your keeping that plastic clip on the slave when you plug in the master right? that clip isn't supposed to be removed unless your taking the line off, not putting it on.

Yeah, I kept it on.. I just ran to the parts store and picked up a new line, and the connector looks a lot different than the one on the truck.. I will take pictures tonight.

I almost bought a new line when I bought all the other parts to fix my clutch, then I thought to myself, no save 60 bucks, use the old one...

If it weren’t for bad luck, I wouldn’t have any luck at all.. lol

did y make sure they gave u the right slave. becuase there is two different styles and the connectors are didfernt

I dont honestly know.. I got the slave cylinder from advance auto parts. When I looked it up on their website they didn"t specify there were any differences?? :icon_confused:

Here's a link:

The early slaves and lines had black collars where they connect, while the later ones had gold collars. The two different colored collars are also slightly different diameters which would explain why the line pops off if they don't match.:icon_thumby:

Ahh.. Mine did have a black collar. Thats good to know, Thank you

well, good and bad news.

the good news is that the new hydraulic connector clicked right in.

The bad news is I couldnt get it bled tonight.. I pulled up a bunch of different threads about getting this thing bled, but have had no luck so far. Im going to try again tomorrow when my temper has cooled a bit...
