on the master cylinder for a 84 ranger, what spot is for the front brakes and the rear brakes?

On most Rangers the front connector (towards the front of the vehicle) is for the rear brakes...that is because the front brakes engage before the rears...

What are the diferences in the master cylinders from a 84 ranger and a 86 ranger? i already know the 84 is all metal and the 86 has the plastic resivor and a sensor.

There may be a booster in the later models where the earlier models didn't have them...if your current setup doesn't have a booster you'd need to drill out the firewall and the support bracket that supports it for the booster...

Otherwise, swapping in a newer one shouldn't be too much of a problem...but the sensor helps when you run low on brake fluid...it actually came on and I thought it was a parking brake issue...but one of my lines snapped and the fluid was getting way low for proper operation...
