Where can i find manual trans parts for a 95 4x4 with a 4.0 ? M50d-r1. My trans has something going on. I can hear some clicks and clacks but at the moment everything seems to run ok. My shifter sometimes makes me wrestle it into 1 and R. If something is going out i would like to know where to get a rebuild kit and hard parts for it. I cant really tell if the noise is in the bellhousing or in the trans. And if i do need parts what clutch is recommended? If im going to drop the trans i might as well replace all the other bs while im in there. Im not paying a shop or buy a rebuilt if i can source the parts myself. Thanks for any help.

A few vendors on ebay sell M5OD rebuild kits. You need a press to take it completely apart though.

Odds are your shifting issue is just a bad slave cylinder.

Best bang for your buck on a clutch kit, that I know of, is the NAPA set. It's made by LUK who also makes the OEM clutches for Ford.

^Yep.

I recommend Cobratransmission.com for parts...

They call it an M5R1

The shifter only acts stupid going into first and sometimes reverse. It doesnt just go in smoothly. I have to get it so far then shove it in the rest of the way. And its not just with the clutch in while truck is running... It happens even when it just sitting with no power as well. It doesnt do it all the time just most of the time. Should i be replacing the shifter bushings or is it usually another culprit. The best way to describe the noise is a piece of plastic bouncing around some where. Its hard to tell if its coming from the clutch area or inside the transmission. It all works fine with no issues and shifts fine but i would rather fix a cheap fix before it turns into a fiasco. As far as clutch kits go is there a more heavy duty unit like a centerforce clutch or is the napa unit best for a daily driver? im more concerned with longevity and performance over price. Its my commuter and i take good care of this truck. I want it to last.

Sounds like a combination of a slave cyl issue and toasted shifter bushings.

I would run a Luk clutch.

Are there any particular brands of slave cylinders that i should get?
