manual trans vs auto trans

i can probably find video's of a gmc 1-ton pulling everything he hooked to. its an old 86 or something. he pulled a dodge cummins, a jeep yj on rockwells, and several other rigs-- including a ford or 2.. he just knew how to drive it. he knew how to get the initial pull.

that white chevy looks like my neighbor steve's truck....

actully due to tourque multiplication the auto would have the advantage over the std if all other things were equal,(engine size, gear ratio, tire size) i saw a tug of war once between to ford full size trucks, one auto, one stick dont know anything about the drive line setup of either, but the automatic truck held its brakes on until the std trans truck broke traction and started spinning, the the auto trans truck drug the other backwards over the line for the win. i personally prefer a std trans but there are times when a auto is the better way to go. better have receiver hitches and not use the bumpers to pull from, one of them is bound to at least bend a set of brackets, possibly pull a bumper clear off. i have recently watched some stock full-size truck pulls at antique tractor shows and the county fair, wish there was a class for compact pickups.

Hitch to hitch proves nothing. I was on a 50hp 5500lb Massey Harris 44 and I got drug backwards by a 35hp 4500lb John Deere B. Take them to the field to actually do something productive and that B wouldn't show the 44 a thing... at all. Take them to a pulling track with a sled... same deal. Ooo boy, he beat me at a worthless contest. :icon_rofl:

If you want to prove something, get a sled involved. :icon_thumby:

Yup. That's the same as the impact wrench test.

Mac likes to say their gun is better than Snappy because it will spin the Snappy backwards with both on full forward hooked anvil to anvil.

The Mac gun can't break bolts loose that the Snap-On one doesn't even struggle with.
