manual trans swap?

Got a new 302 to go in my ranger and can't decide if I should put a zf5 or if it will mate up, a zf6 does anyone know if they mate up and which one would be better?

First, before you decide for sure on a ZF, how much body lift are you willing to put on? IIRC you have to have about 3 inches to make it fit right.

The better trans depends a lot on what you want to do. If you are towing big loads or doing really steep/aggressive rock climbs the 6 is probably better. If you are just using it as an every day truck the 5 will do fine.

The OD gear ratio is the same on both transmissions. The 6 has the granny low gear that is only useful if you are over loaded and starting out on a hill.

The truck has some low gears in it for crawling and its got 4" susp and 3" body
