Manual trans swap - what parts should I grab off an Explorer?

My brother has a 98 Ranger SuperCab 4.0 4x4 with the 5R55E with 250k miles, trans was rebuilt at 215k but recently lost reverse and Drive was going too. I took it apart and replaced the separator plate (broken gasket) and its driving somewhat better now, but the crap in the oil pan was not a promising sight! Combining this with the fact that the 4X4 part of the BCM has gone bad, its making a damn good case for making everything manual!

I went to the junkyard and stumbled across a 97 Explorer Sport 2wd with the SOHC 4.0 and 5spd. I know the trans wont work because the extension is different between 2wd and 4X4, or can they be swapped out without changing the output shaft?

Will the rest of the parts (PCM, pedals with CPP, shifter and plate, trans harness, crossmember, master cylinder, and other small parts) work fine on the Ranger? I know they're vastly similar vehicles so I doubt there would be problems.

I think the flywheels might have different bolt patterns, but the the flywheel and clutch parts I'll just buy new instead of buying the junkyard pieces.

Thanks for any help!
