Hello all, I'm new I just got a 2000 Ranger 4x4 ext cab and the transmission started acting funny.

After warming up, if i come to a stop and let the clutch out (at a stop light), when i go to put it in gear 1st, reverse or any gear, it wont go in at first. It will make a very slight cluck like the syncros are trying to engage but it wont fully go into gear. if i hold the clutch down for awhile before i try to put it in gear sometimes it will go into gear. if the vehicle is moving and i let the clutch out it doesnt do it. like i said this is on a warm engine and doesnt do it when i first start it up.

Anyone have any idea what it can be? Maybe i need to bleed clutch slave cylinder? Thanks for your help.

1)the year of your truck? 2000
2)What engine? 3.0l vulcan ffv
3)Which transmission, IF you know what transmission you have! If you do not, then the engine you have and the year of your truck are "clues" that will help us narrow the list of possibilities. m5od r1
4)2wd or 4x4? please. 4x4
4-a) if it's a 4x4 is the T-case Manual or Electronically shifted? electronically

Sounds like your clutch hydraulic system. The clutch slave or master cylinder. Since you don't have to remove the transmission to replace the clutch master, I would replace that first and see what happens. If it's fixed great, if not then you'll have to pull the trans to replace the slave cylinder.

The same thing happened to me. Slave cylinder, throwout bearing and pilot bearing. I didn't have any different sound than I had when I took it to the dealer under warranty but the throwout bearing fell apart in my hand when I took the slave cylinder off of the shaft. The pilot bearing had three half rollers and the rest was dust.
