Manual to Auto...what tranny?

ALL the RBV trannies are based on the A4Ld. They have slight upgrades. Mostly, the electronics help keep you from doing stupid things that would damage the trans.
The c4/c5 would be better, easier and lighter. It just lacks 4th gear.
It is also possible to adapt an AOD. The challenge there would be the TV cable.

This is my project ;)

The only problem with the '97 Rangers is that Ford was phasing out the 6 bolt crank and installing the 8 bolt crank. The only way to tell what bolt pattern you have on the back of your crank is to pull the transmission and look. If you have a 8 bolt crank, then yes that will work; if not then no it wont.

The parts list is the same from the 5R55E to the A4LD. The only problem is the A4LD's are JUNK! Find yourself a 5R55E if you are going to swap from a manual to auto.

if you have the OHV engine, you should only have 6 flywheel bolts. the one in the link has 8 (fits SOHC engines)
Not true, in '97 the 6 bolt flywheel was phased out in favor of the 8 bolt. There are OHV's in '97-'00 that have the 8 bolt flywheel.

Oooh!! You mean that in the previous post, we were talking about the 5.0..?

BTW...your spanish is great!...or you are using google translator?...hahahaa...thanks;)

No, the 5R55E is only used behind the 4.0 V6...the AOD was used behind the 5.0 however.

And thanks...I speak spanish near fluent and have traveled to Latin America a few times. Not to Chile yet, however it's on my list. Como esta Santiago?
