I just got a 92 Ranger that has a 4.0, FM146 and a BW1354 manual t-case. The truck used to be an automatic but at one point in its life an FM146 was swapped in. I have an M5OD-R1 HD that's in great shape that I put in my 94 Ranger just before it blew a head gasket. I'd like to put this in between the 4.0 and the manual t case. I know the tailhousing on the HD trans doesn't have the linkage bosses for the manual t-case, but the M5OD does. I have an old M5OD lying around - can I just switch the tailhousings or will I have to fab up something on the HD tailhousing? Also how will this affect my drivelines? Is the FM146 significantly shorter or longer than the M5OD? Anything else I should think about?
By the way, is anyone else having problems with the new classifieds? It's not working for me when I hit "submit". So yeah, until I can get that figured out, 94 Ranger parts for sale, FYI...
