I am converting my 04 B3000 Dual Sport to 4wd, I have pretty everything now. One thing I am missing is a shifter boot for the t-case. Mine has a manual trans with the boot that has the 2 drink holders and I would like to keep that. Has anyone have some good ideas for boots and myabe some pics?

I was planning on using the stock bezel/cupholder thingy...but cutting it up to just one cupholder, glass in a manual tcase bezel, then using that as my floor bezel. stock manual tcase boot would be used.

But...I found factory 02-03 twin stick stuff...so I used that.

Rummage the pick n pull and buy a couple boots that look like they'll work. Might have to go back a couple times to get just the right boot, but that has worked for me before.

i made this for my 5speed

This. IIRC you pretty much have to trim or take out your driver side cupholder...

But... I haven't swapped mine to manual yet so I don't know it for a fact...

I figured I could go without one cupholder, and just add another one when I make half doors :D

believe me....i'm twin sticked now...and theres NO ROOM for a driveside cupholder with the shifter left in the stock position.

There's a guy over at RF that did a manual case on his auto '01 edge....he moved the linkage towards the driver 3" and use a '97-03 F150 boot and bezel to allow him to retain his cupholders. Same theory could work and it might work perfect to keep both cup holders on a manual trans truck. Cutting and glassing definately required to make it look 'right' though.

Here's a pic of his setup: still havn't seen undersidepics of the linkage, but it seems pretty easy to make happen.....3" spacers and longer bolts for the linkage mounting, and weld on a longer stud on the first part of the linkage right off the tcase forthe bushing to slide onto...

And just for reference...here's my current setup using OEM '02-03 Fx4 stuff....see...no effin' room. lol. DEFINATELY not possible for a driveside cup holder with an unmodded linkage...

Thanks guys this really helps, I did not know the t-case shifter is right beside the the trans shifter. The f150 one looks promising however I might just make the bezel flat along the bottom and lose the cup holders..........:icon_welder:

fireblade...most important piece of your 4wd conversion and manual case puzzle..... have you located a tailhousing with manual linkage threaded bungs AND a VSS sensor? If not, good luck. Took me two years to find one of those. They only had 'em on the 02-03 Fx4 twin stick trucks.

I have everything now except for the 4x4 output shaft, I called Ford about the same boots you have and they don't make them anymore.............any spares?? As for the VSS you don't need to find a extension housing with the VSS hole, most t-cases have that hole........just lengthen the wires abit and voolia:icon_thumby:

Most tcases have that hole? BS. '01+ speed sensors are on the tailhousing of the trans...others are taken from the rear diff speed sensor. Older model trucks have a cable from the tcase up to the gauges. Where's your speedometer gonna get it's signal from?

Unless there's something I don't know about, and nobody has talked about... That's the whole reason you don't see many 01+ twin stick trucks because of this.

Not all trucks used the VSS in diff and trans extension housing. Some used the tailshaft of the transfer case. As seen here

It uses the same sensor with the same signal as the ones in the extension housing of the trans. Just extend the wires and plug it in. I think you need to educate yourself a little more before calling BS on something you have never seen..........

I'm sorry that I'm so knowledgeable on 98+ and not 97 and older...boo hoo. lol. If it works, great. Did you not read my second sentance? We're all learning just like how you learned about the stock shifter positions...

np, as you say we are all here to learn..........
