Hey all. Looking at picking up a bunch of stuff from a dirt cheap Junk Yard to do a power swap to my Ranger. Just wondering if anyone knows what all the pieces I will need are, and if you have pictures that would help GREATLY for me with size and identification.

im doing the same job!! im putting power windows only, no power locks for now, im gonna post some pics to help u out

Alright, thanks.

I'm not sure if I'll do the locks either, it all depends on if I can find a programmable remote thing. Otherwise, I'll stick with manual locks. It would be nice to not have to walk around to the other side of the truck to unlock the door for someone, or reach over.

dude powerlocks are easy to install i bought these ones at princess auto up here in canada installed them in a day, they come with a controller box with seperate inputs so it can be hooked up to your existing command start or security system and when you would unlock your door it would automatically unlock passenger side as well then when you wood push down the knob thingy it would lock all doors had to problems for the week because it wrote it off shortly after lol.

i just did that on my ranger, i purchased the ranger 03 power windows system at a junk yard, and i couldnt install it myself, so i took it to the mechanics place
trust me it was a complete pain in the ass, making those electric machines get into the door and work, they had to disarm the manual stuff and the electric stuff to make one custom unit that could fit in the door and still work properly, they had to remove the door speakers to fit that, the doors are built different when they have manual or power windows, so my advice is take it to a shop and get some universal kits, and get the oem power controls so the door looks more like stock, that i did with mine

sorry i dont have pics of the parts or the process

if u are sure that will fit the door then u shoukd use that kit, trust me installing the power windows froma another ranger is very difficult, mine work but they do a little noise, maybe cuz they where forced to fit lol!!!

I'd rather spend about 20 bucks, and have a difficult install than to spend 220 plus shipping for a slightly easier install.

The best way is to change the factory dash harness. My doors were power doors so that made it easier for me.

no the electric part is a piece of cake, what i mean is the mechanic part, my truck is a 99, and i installed 03 power parts, so maybe the door construction changed, thats why, maybe using the exact model its easier, the door controls i used are from a 01, that doesnt matter cuz the door design didnt changed since the 99. i spent more than using universal kits, but i have better quality, cuz all the kits sold in here are made in china and not great quality.

Yeah, I'll probably look for 3rd gen door stuff, but I might have trouble finding that soooo I'll probably have to do a little adjusting.
