just wondering if anyone knows if a 2.3 manifold from an older car would bolt up to the 2.5 in my truck it would be nice if it did because then i can get 3 or 4 performance ones for about a $100
No with the different ports (along with a different bolt pattern for the intake manifold) and the 8 spark plugs make it and the 8 plug 2.3 heads queer to themselves. Is this for off-road use only? does your state have emissions laws? is the ecm and wiring fried? or what exactly are you trying to do? need alot more info on what your planning.
exhaust manifold and its going to be on road here in connecticut i was hoping to that the 2.3s would bolt up becuase i know someone who used to race using these motors and has a pile of performance exhaust manifold just hanging around so i was planning on taking one of these and bending my own 2.5" exhaust
I haven't worked on too many of the 8 plug heads as of yet, I know the intake is totally different but I haven't looked close at the exhaust manifolds yet to see if there is a difference in them or not so I'm not quite sure, if the stock exhaust manifold looks like a shorty header made from cast iron it's pretty good for what it is, if they didn't change the exhaust side of the 8 plugger it should be the same as the earlier 4 plug head I would guess. I have in the past put a tube header on a 2.3 that had the cast iron header and IMHO I didn't really notice any difference.
You could go out to the drag strip and run the truck as is noting the weather (temperature, humidity, and so forth) then put the tube header and the bigger exhaust then go out and run it again to see if there is any differences in et's and speeds.
