Will a 2.8 intake manifold fit on a 2.9 motor? I would like to get rid of the fuel injection and put on an old fashion carburetor. Is this possible? thank you, the info I have gotten on this form is priceless, and want to thank all for helping me out!

I assure you, you do not actually want to do that, you only think you do. I have read of a few people doing this on Merkur forums, or to put a 2.9 into an older car. By all reports the result is an "abysmally disappointing and underpowered mess" that gets horrific fuel economy.

And that wording came from a guy who put it in a 5lb MGB.

Did Rusty make a new account... :annoyed:

Thanks adsm08 I figured there would be a mechanical draw back, put a carb on a throttle body chevy a while back and the 350 ran like a 305!

Yeah, every report I read of the swap said it runs worse and makes less power than the 2.8. If you are looking to swap something else into you 84 and keep it carb there are better options out there.

Nothing that will bolt to your existing transmission.

Personally, if that was me I'd be carbing a 5.0 HO.

Original question : will a 2.8 manifold fit a 2.9 motor? I'm curious too.
