Agreed! Most "Deer accidents" that cause injury or severe damage are
caused by driver over-reaction
Swerving to avoid a 140lb deer that isn't set into the ground
and hitting a 6000lb that is set in the ground is a profoundly stupid act.
Frankly I think passers by witnessing such a situation should club
the driver to death and rush the deer to an animal hospital
AD
Most of the people killed by hitting a deer (or missing one) are because they tried to avoid the deer or over-reacted when they hit it.
No doubt, a deer can play heck with the front end of a vehicle. Chances are pretty good something will get damaged on the vehicle. But it beats rolling over in a ditch and dying. Or driving your vehicle into a tree at 40 mph.
Me? I'd hit it and bail out after it. If it was still alive, well, that can be remedied. Then it'll go in the back and come home for supper with me. No sense wasting good meat...
