Alright well I REALLY wanna do an SAS on my truck, at the moment mainly because throwing money at my 2wd TIB isnt worth it, but i want to clear at least 33's (not sure if i worded that right haha)

ideally, i wanna run an EB d44, but they can be pricey, and it will probably need a rebuild which is big money.

naturally, i wanna be a cheap ass, so i was thinking, how hard would it be to make a d30 (cheap, abundant in junkyards like anything mopar) accept ford radius arms and c bushings so that eventually when i wanna run big boy tires (~37" or so) i can get an eb d44 and take my time rebuilding it right, then it will be nearly a bolt in affair. i would make the radius arm mounts spaced the same distance apart as on a d44, of course.

any ideas?

i guess in my opinion i would make up a radius arm that uses the original mounts on a early 90s non disconnect d30 out of an XJ (jeep cherokee) and a single frame mount similar to your stock radius arms. This will be similar to a long arm setup for xjs.

then when you switch to a 44 you can use radius arms and just lign stuff up. There is much more to consider though like if the 30 and 44 coils line up with your rangers and if you are going to 37s eventually you are gonna want longer than stock radius arms anyway to get more droop travel. I would do like i said but use a longer arm with a heim on the frame end. I have an 89 as well and i am planning a 44 swap this summer suing leafs. Since you seem to be on a budget I would tell you to consider cutting off brackets on a 44 or 30 or whatever and doing springs for simplicity and durability.

I would stay away form Rusty's offroad because i have spent a couple thousand with them and they are one piece of shit company and don't have a clue what the f### they are doing or have any customer service at all and rusty is a dumbass and treat everyone like an idiot!!!!
I love to meet him and give him a piece of mind and how much his company sucks!!!!!!

those weld on wedges are exactly what i was looking for! i remember seeing them, but couldnt find them at the time of my original post.

next question, is it possible to have too long of a radius arm? you'd think that with the longer it is, the less caster change there is, and thus, its better?

I never thought about using the stock radius arms for a D30 swap but anybody know how high of a lift they can take before stuff starts to not want to move or work right? I would aviod using the jeep 4 raduios arms if i can but thats what I have to work with ATM.
