Hey guys im pretty excited about this its my first project truck its a 87 ranger about as basic as it gets lol...
Carbed 2.3 manual steering manual brakes no radio from the factory 5 speed manual...
I already swapped to a 302 and an aod BARF!!! i wanted it to stay manual trans lol...

I drove it around with the carbed 2.3 for about a month and a half the junk thing smoked like it was doing pest control..
It probably had about 50hp out of the origonal 88hp it came with lol

Anyways im really looking forward to your guys input this project is far from done trust me and it still needs alot of refinement...
The trans is acting a little odd in first gear like sometimes it there and slams into first and other times its normal...that and the tailshaft in the trans needs a new bushing its making the driveshaft vibrate a little, and i need a new carb this holly 600 is wasted and is dumping too much fuel in..
Yes the carb has been rebuilt before haha...

Oh trust me i know lol when i bought the parts car i knew the smog motor wouldnt be much for power but i figure you gatta start somewhere

Any chance you have a vacuum leak or kinked air hose that is going to the trans diaphragm? faulty diaphragm? I am guessing the torque converter is ok and proper oil levels. anyway to hook up a vacuum gauge to the intake tree and go out for a drive while watching the needle to see how it all runs while driving?

The trans is an aod and i bought the lokar kit i figured out it mainly does it when the trans is cold 1st gear will act odd and the trans will go into 2nd gear then the truck goes...but when its warm its fine...there is also a whining noise when in first sometimes.
Fluid level is a tiny bit over full...i have a feeling the trans may not last very long but im not too heart broken about it... great excuse for a WC t5 swap lol

update! its been awhile

i need to update this thing more often but ive made some progress on the old ranger i did a 5/7 drop on it and i upgraded to the 95-97 dual piston front breaks in the process

a few more pictures... about the only major pain honestly was the radius arm bolt those were an utter bitch and i ended up ruining them just to get them out.. but oh well the suspension is done for now
