so ive always wondered why ranger owners use flowmaster 40' series? ive heard it on one ranger and it sounded deep, but it wasnt loud.
ive also heard it on a dodge ram 1500 and it sounded so sweet. but i just cant imagine flow's on a v6....

im a magnaflow guy on small engines though. :icon_thumby:

also since im on the subject, have any of you ever seen a v6 RVB run 3" pipe throughout?:icon_confused:
ive seen 2.5 and i think its too big haha, i run 2.5 from the cat to muffler then 2 1/4 and its a good sound. i love the reverb when i lean off the accelerator

ive gota 40 mercury with a 47 ford flathead in it and with glass packs man, it romps. i love that flat head growl sound soo much, makes all engines sound bad ahhaa
and a few years ago i had a 49 shoebox ford with true duels and that was purtty cool too... these new cars dont compare haha

I run a thrush glass pack that I burned the packing out of right now. When I get the 4.0 in I plan to run Flowmaster Super 44 diamond plates. That choice is primarily driven by the diamond plate factor.

i havent seen the 44 diamond plate.... i havent really been out looking for quite some time now. ill look it up to see what it looks like.

its just a regular old 40 series, but the outer case is diamond plate. Since I plan to use the truck off road one of these days that'd be a nice thing to have.

im strictly a flowmaster kind of guy but i couldnt find a 40 series muffler that would fit my rangers exhaust, so i ended up buying a cherry bomb glasspack muffler. But turns out, i calculated the diameter of my exhaust wrong and will have to end up redoing the whole exhaust. So, since im going to have to do that, why not go the flowmaster way and do it right?

plus i have a '71 maverick 302 that has duel flowmaster 40 series on it. Best 302 ive ever heard, and no, im not saying that cause its my car. I simply havent heard a car with a 302 in it sound as good.

my friend whos also a flowmaster guy tried out magnaflow on his 408 stroker in his '71 torino 500. Sounds sick. But makes me wonder what it would sound like with 40 series.

i defantly agree flowmaster sounds great on big engines. but my personal opinion is magnaflow has got the small engine market down purtty well.

It depend on what type of truck your running because my 4.0l inline 6 jeep sounded badass with the flowmaster series 40 single chamber but my ranger doesn't sound as good as the jeep but it still sounds good to me....:icon_thumby:

i have a 40 series now and it sounds good, however its rusting to hell and i've already lost the dual exit pipes i had to rust so i am going to be dumping it and go for the stainless steel gibson system.

i wish i could run my truck wide open ahha. that sound is best i think.

i have a 89 2.3 5spd no cat runs from 2in to to and a 21/8 with a flowtech raptor muffler and goes to a turn down right at the rearend and it sounds good

i bet it does, i would do that to myne, however people around where i live are all retired and old and report anything loud, i draw enough attention as it is haha

this is my 95 2.3L. Put an offset-in/center out flowmaster super 44 series 2.5" ID with a mandrel bent stainless steel dump before the passenger tire..i have another one on there of me driving her..

Flowmasters all the way for me..thats what is going on my potential 94, an any other vehicle lol

From hearing in real life, these are my opinions taking into account tone(deep) and loudness, and overall good sounding.

3.0 = Delta 40
4.0 OHV = Delta 40
4.0 SOHC = Super 44 (with a really close 2nd being the Super 40)

I run a 44 si/do with 2.5" from the last cat to the muffler, then dual 2.25" tailpipes dumped under the spare carrier. I think I went one size too big, but it's too late to change that now. I just know I'm setup already for when I boost it.

And for what its worth, online vid clips suck ass compared to actually hearing it in real life. WAYYYY too many variables to give an accurate idea of the sound and tone. That's the reason it took me 5 mufflers til I found one I liked.
