Machinists, anyone ever make a push broach?

I find a bunch of weld in 12 spline stump jumper hubs on ebay and the price isn't too terrible... but they are all tapered splines.
I’m not real sure what to make of these splines. The flat bottom is consistent all the way through and the sides are tapered plus it ramps. The splines on the shaft are the same way. I guess it just wedges together because of the tapered sides that get progressively taller

So, the problem with that is that it says all the same things as the stump jumper I bought. 12 splines and the correct diameter and all.

I’m not sure what to make of it all. Everything indicates that this is a pretty standardized thing yet mine isn’t acting like it’s universal. I’m really salty that none of the farm and tractor stores around here carry anything other than a few blades and blade bolts. This all would have been easier if I could walk into a store and get what I need instead of ordering online parts made in a foreign factory and hoping for the best.

Yup, I can find piles of those but nothing really mentioned anywhere for straight splines specifically for what you have going on.

Check with G&G and the like, they make a bunch of generic weld hubs like that too.

The new stump jumper I got is close to what I need. I’m still not sure why the measurements I take of the new and old aren’t off by much, but it acts like it’s waaaayyy off when I try to fit it. I’m reluctant to spend more time and money on a guessing game and decided to try and just make what I have work. Maybe it’s a good idea and maybe not. I got a couple months to try and figure it out though before I need it.
