I was reading up here about transmissions just out of curiosity. I went out to my truck and looked at some paper work that my truck has. It claims that my 2002 Ranger Fx4 with the manual T-case has the M5R4 transmission. I thought that was only available on the explorer? Is this a possibility or was it a misprint by FoMoCo?:icon_confused:

Post your VIN I can tell you what trans your truck has.

It will be an m5od-r1 either way tho.

You sure that is right?

It gives me an invalid VIN message on InFord.

Dude,

He isn't "decoding" your VIN, he's actually looking it up of Ford's OASIS system so a "shielded VIN" by substituting numbers makes that impossible.

If you don't want your VIN public (It's not like anyone can do anything other than look up a CARFAX on your truck) PM it to him.

if you want a real answer, you need to supply real data.

Thanks! :D I wonder why they labeled it wrong on the paper work?:icon_confused:

M5R4 comes up with the generic info about your truck, when you go into a little deeper you get the full name for the transmission.
