i want to start by saying i dont have alot experience with these. Heres my problem. A few days ago i got in my 1994 ranger 2.3l 4x4 158,000 Daily driver 31/1050 tires. I started her up let her warm up. Tried to go into Rev and it seems like i am trying to put it into rev with out clutch pushed in. But i do have clutch pushed in. I tried pumping clutch and that didnt help. I do know that 5th and rev are same cluster. It will sometimes go into fifth ( tried while sitiing in driveway, not driving) and other times acts just like rev. My first thought was the slave cyclinder. Open the inspection hole and dry as a bone. Not a leak one. Then went to the fire wall and made sure resevoir was full and it was. The weird thing is i had just drove it the night before with no problems. It sat for aprox. 7.5 hrs through the night. Then the next morning it started acting like this. I am not to sure where to start and could use alittle help with any ideas. Need to get it fixed, because its going to be snowing soon and my 89 mustang isnt to good in snow with the tire set up and rear end i have. LOL She is more of a summer kinda girl......:3gears:
Thanks for any/all the help. This forum is top notched and recommend it to all my Danger Ranger friends

Sounds like you may have a broken shift fork. If that is what it is you don't need to tke the transmission out. Just the transfercase and tailshaft housing off the transmission. Where are you located?

Ohio. west of dayton near ohio/indiana border. Was thinking about just replacing the trans do to the milage??? Dont want to fix that if thats the problem and then something else breaks. If you know what im getting at..

Just curious i seen you groups and seen your fire and EMS group tag. I have been trying to figure out how to get those Group tags. I am also a Firefighter/Medic in my city. I know its off the subject but thought i would ask anyways... take care and be safe

If you plan on keeping the truck then I would either replace or rebuild what you have. The transmissions are easy to rebuiuld if you have a mechanical background. All the parts should cost you arouind $300-$400 depending on what you need. If you have it rebuilt becareful of the rebuilder and make sure that he/she is reputable. Don't go to a junkyard and buy one and instantly install it into your truck. It could have the same problem that you currently have or worse. If you decide to rebuild it yourself there are plenty of us here who have been into these transmissions and can help you.

As for the tags under your name.
Go to "User CP"
find "Group Memberships" and you can go from there.
