M5R1 tailhousing bushing depth?

Hello, recently did new tailhousing bushing, seal, new slip yoke and got my drive shaft balanced. After all that I have a slow drip at the seal so I ended up grabbing a junkyard m5r1 cheap for the tailhousing thinking it was wallowed out. Got it opened today and they had the bushing sticking out 3/4” inch or so-I did mine flush with shoulder which would explain wobble and maybe leak. How far is is supposed to go in?

Every one I've seen, (granted not many half dozen or so) has had that seal sticking out...
