New to the mazda transmission.. Where is the drain plug and fill plug on this transmission. ( Manual Transmission) Any pictures would be great... Need to change the fluid. Cause i know the guy before me did not do anything to it... Thanks for the help...

Driver's side, about midway back. Drain plug it a big-ass bolt. If you can't find it you probably can't see well enough to drive. Fill plug is a few inches straight above. I have found filling in the vehicle easier to do if you remove the shifter and the fill plug and just dump fluid in the shifter hole.

Mercon or Mercon V is the preferred fluid. Don't use gear oil, that is too thick for the tight clearances in those bearings.

The trans uses 5.6 PINTS of fluid. A little less than 3 quarts.

Yep.

Look for what's called "Dex/Merc" fluid if it's a '07 or older M5OD. '08-'11 calls for Mercon V.
