Hey fellas,
Was thinking of swapping an M50DR1 into my '84 2.0 Ranger. It's my understanding that this is a better trans than the Toyo Kogyo 5-speed that originally came with these trucks, and I've got a little horsepower into mine, so I want a trans that's going to stand up to occasional floggings. My question is, will it mount up to my existing trans mount? I can get the driveshaft and clutch linkage from the donor truck, will the master cylinder bolt to my existing pedal assembly or will I have to snag the pedals? Are there any holes to cut?

Sorry to play 20 questions, but when you're planning a swap it helps to educate yourself. :icon_confused:
Oh, and it has a toyo Kogyo four-speed in it now.

There will be modifications needed. Not horrendous ones though.

In the submission archive there is an article on converting from an FM145 to an M5OD, that article will pretty well cover everything you need to do as well.
