my 94 ranger with a 5-speed jumps out gear(5th gear only)what's the problem?would it have anything to do with the synchronizers?sometimes it'll stay in if gear as long as your not on and off the gas pedal.

The M5OD transmissions have an aluminum bearing retainer that holds the center output shaft & rear counter shaft bearings. Those retainers go bad a lot letting the bearings, output & counter shafts shift back & forth causing the transmission to pop out of gear. There is a steel bearing retainer that you can get, but the transmission will need to be torn down to install it.

I get them from the local transmission parts supplier, NATPRO, but they only sell to whole sale shops. Just go to any of your local transmission shops that deals with manual transmissions, they can get it for you. The dealer might even have them in steel.
